Pakistan Readymade Garments Manufacturers & Exporters Association (PRGMEA) is the premier trade organization representing the Readymade Garment Industry in Pakistan. The primary objective of PRGMEA is to safeguard interests of readymade garment exporters and create a sustainable manufacturing environment.

PRGMEA was established in 1981 to provide advice and services to garment manufacturers cum exporters and to promote a better environment for trade. PRGMEA has a strong membership of more than 500 companies who are exporters of value added garment and textile sector. PRGMEA’s offices are located in Karachi, Lahore and Sialkot.

As a trade organization, it is recognized by the Government of Pakistan and affiliated with the Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce & Industry ( FPCCI ),  Employers' Federation of Pakistan ( EFP ), Trade and Development Authority of Pakistan ( TDAP ) and International Apparel Federation ( IAF ). It is an honour that the International Apparel Federation opened its first regional office on 27th September, 2017 at PRGMEA House in Sialkot where Pakistan Readymade Garments Manufacturers & Exporters Association also inked a MoU with The Dutch National Fashion & Textile Association Netherlands (MODINT) for the first time in Asia with a view to support Pakistan apparel industry. read more...

PRGMEA is running two technical training institutes in Karachi and Lahore namely, Pakistan Readymade Garments Technical Training Institute (PRGTTI). Moreover, a 3rd institute is being established in Sialkot, The objective of PRGTTI is to prepare efficient, productive and technical manpower for the value added textile  industry. Thousands students have been trained up to now at PRGTTI and accommodated in the garment Industry as well.

Objectives

  • To advise, protect, safeguard and promote the rights, interests of members and to assure their Goodwill.
  • To build a nexus between Manufacturers and Buyers
  • To provide supporting services to members.
  • To monitor export performance, provide related information and market knowledge to members.
  • To encourage exports by advocating for a better export environment and by removing difficulties and short comings in the readymade garments trade, through continuous interaction with concerned national & international bodies and institutions.

Collaboration with International Apparel Federation

PRGMEA is the national partner of The International Apparel Federation (IAF) for Pakistan. IAF is the world’s leading federation for apparel manufacturers, (SME) brands, their associations, and the supporting industry. IAF’s membership now includes apparel associations and companies from more than 40 countries, a membership that directly and indirectly represents over a hundred thousand companies and over 20 million employees. IAF brings its members together to jointly create stronger, smarter and more sustainable supply chains, it provides its members with valuable information and guidance and it represents its members on several international platforms working incessantly on more industry standardisation and harmonisation, industry collaboration and inclusiveness of solutions.

PRGMEA’s Green Initiatives

PRGMEA members are very pro active when it comes to Green Initiatives. Numerous members have adopted High Index for better monitoring of their energy consumptions while multiple members have also been certified by US Green Building Council for LEED ( Leadership in Environmental and Energy Design ). Currently, some of our members are playing an active role in adopting zero discharge practices by following ZDHC protocols.

Renewable Energy, especially solar power is now being actively adopted by our members as it is also being supported by the Government of Pakistan’s favorable policies in regards to this.

PRGMEA remained partner member with Bavarian Employers’ Association (Bfz GmbH) on a program to stimulate economic and social development of Pakistan through an ecologically sustainable textile industry. This program was initiated by The German Ministry of Economic Cooperation & Development and working under the name, Espire in Pakistan. (www.espire.com.pk). Bfz GmbH is one of the largest private providers of vocational training in Germany. The project Espire funded by the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development via SEQUA GmbH.

The main objective of project Espire was to improve economic efficiency and ecological sustainability of the textile industry by using adopted techniques and technologies. Our members adopted techniques and participate in training program of Bfz GmbH under PRGMEA platform such as:

  • Energy Conservation & Self Energy Audit Training
  • OEKO-TEX 100 Certification and Training
  • Training on Environment Management System
